Director of Health Care Policy for Medicaid

Caroline Bergner is currently the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (ASHA) Director of Health Care Policy for Medicaid. She serves ASHA’s membership by engaging in professional consultations with members, tracking, analyzing, and translating Medicaid policies, and advocating for better coverage of audiology and speech-language pathology services with Medicaid state agencies, Medicaid managed care organizations, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and members of Congress. She is the staff liaison to ASHA’s Committee on Medicaid and leads ASHA’s State Advocates for Reimbursement network.
Caroline has worked in government relations for a variety of professional trade associations including the American Psychological Association, the National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics, the Consortium for Constituents with Disabilities, and others. She worked in the legislative practice at the Powers Law firm, for the US Attorney’s Office in the Middle District of Florida, and the Third District Court of Appeals in Florida.
She is a proud alumna of Duke University and Ave Maria School of Law. She is a Virginia-licensed attorney and has worked in health care policy for more than 15 years.
